Midcore Code · Native IDE

The native AI IDE, built for software developers.

Midcore Code is the editor-focused edition of Midcore. Forked from the open-source VS Code core, hardened for AI-first workflows, and wired into the same agent, audit, and compute layer as Midcore Shell — so what you build in the editor flows back out to the rest of the platform.

What sets Midcore Code apart

Agents that ship code

Inline AI agents that draft, refactor, and review. Every action is audited, every cost is metered, every change is reversible.

Local-first compute

Heavy work runs on your machine when it can. Embeddings, vector search, code parsing, PDF extraction — all local, all included. Cloud only when local can't keep up.

Tamper-proof audit

Every action — local or cloud — lands on a hash-chained, signed audit ledger. Regulatory-grade provenance, offline-verifiable.

Native VS Code core

Built on the open-source VS Code base so your existing extensions, themes, and keybindings just work. Midcore adds the agent + audit layer on top.

Pricing — transparent and metered, in CAD

Midcore Code is a paid-only product, like the rest of the Midcore platform. Every account gets one 14-day trial seeded with $20 CAD of compute credit so you can try the full stack before paying. All prices are in Canadian dollars.

  • Starter $19 CAD/mo, 1 seat. AI-employee baseline + Research + Robotics. $25 CAD/mo cloud compute included.
  • Pro $49 CAD/mo, 5 seats. Adds finance + ops (Close, Pivot, Genome, Loom, Tracks). $75 CAD/mo compute included. Recommended for builders.
  • Team $99 CAD/mo, 25 seats + SSO. Adds LedgerEye, Levy, Vault Banking. $150 CAD/mo compute included.
  • Enterprise — contact sales. SCIM, on-prem / sovereign-cloud deploy, dedicated CS, SLA.

See the pricing page for the side-by-side comparison and /docs/compute-model/pricing for the operation-by-operation catalog.

What every install enforces

  • Sign-in required — no anonymous use. Every API call carries your bearer; we refuse 401 to anonymous traffic.
  • Active subscription required — the cloud router refuses 403 to inactive subscriptions before any provider is contacted.
  • Positive balance required — cloud operations check balance pre-flight; 402 if short. Local fallback kicks in automatically when supported.
  • Pre-authorise cap per session — the IDE never spends past your configured cap without an explicit prompt.
  • Signed receipts on every charge — every cloud op produces a hash-chained, signed receipt visible in Account → Balance.

Midcore Code vs Midcore Shell

Two editions, one platform. They share the same account, the same tiers, and the same compute balance.

Midcore Code (this page)

Editor-focused. VS Code fork. Use this if you spend most of your day in an IDE writing software.

Midcore Shell

Full-platform shell. Hosts every product surface (Maestro, Studio, Research, Robotics, finance & ops). Use this if you want the complete Midcore experience.
